Founder Bio

Mr. and Mrs. Twumasi are the visionary co-founders of Royall Legacy, a dynamic and community-centered non-profit organization dedicated to uniting and enriching the community through the performing arts. Their mission is to foster cultural connection and preserve African traditions, particularly within the African diaspora, through theatre performances that celebrate storytelling, folklore, music, and dance.

Both hailing from Ghana, Mr. and Mrs. Twumasi met while studying at the prestigious School of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana, Legon. Mr. Twumasi pursued a degree in theatre management, while Mrs. Twumasi focused on acting, laying the foundation for their shared passion for the arts. Their academic and professional background instilled in them a deep appreciation for the transformative power of theatre and the importance of preserving cultural heritage through performance.

Upon relocating to the United States, they were inspired by the need to reconnect younger generations of Africans born in the diaspora with their rich cultural traditions. They envisioned a platform that would not only revive traditional forms of African storytelling, but also promote community engagement through the arts. In particular, they aimed to introduce the African community, and beyond, to the vibrant experience of live theatre as a medium for cultural education and social connection.

Who We Are

Royall Legacy was founded by a collective of first-generation African immigrants, all professional stage performers, musicians, and cultural ambassadors. Together, they have made Columbus their home and are passionate about sharing their rich cultural heritage with the broader community.

After years of careful planning and a commitment to launching an organization that would have a meaningful impact on the community, Royall Legacy was officially established in 2020. With the strong support of family, friends, and the wider community, the organization continued to grow, and in March 2022, it achieved full status as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Royall Legacy’s work has since gained widespread recognition for its dedication to cultural preservation, artistic excellence, and community building. The organization actively engages with diverse audiences, offering an inclusive platform that fosters dialogue, learning, and creative expression through stage performances that highlight both African traditions and universal human experiences.
